Welcome to Birds of Prey

I have created this website to showcase a project I did at The Wild Wings Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre.

It came about after a visit to Wild Wings in Cheshire UK, I was impressed with the range of birds they had and the extensive knowledge (and genuine friendliness) of the staff, but as ever in these sorts of places I found it frustrating as a photographer that there was no way of getting great shots of these amazing birds. I had a chat with one of the owners, who agreed to allow me access to the birds so I could photograph them in a studio setting.

Carole and Ian who own and run the centre were so helpful and accommodating as we took over their education centre and turned it into a mini studio for the day.  The birds however were the biggest surprise, putting them into such an alien environment, far from making them nervous and edgy, had quite a soporific effect, personified by Gizmo falling asleep on the perch and needing tickling under his beak to wake up!  All the birds were happy to sit still and stay calm, even with a noisy flash going off right next to them.

The resulting shots, I have to say, I am immensely proud of.  I have had to watermark these portraits but I hope you can see past the watermark and it doesn’t distract too much from the quality and detail in each of the images.

If you would like to know more about this project or are interested in discussing any commercial possibilities regarding these birds of prey images please go to the contact page and drop me a line.
